According to the calendar of Türkiye's Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), the three holy months and Regaip Kandili begin on Thursday 10 December 2026. The kandil is observed on the night between Thursday and Friday.

The meaning of Regaip Kandili

Regaip comes from the Arabic ragîbe, "something precious and sought after". Held on the first Friday night of Rajab, it is a night of prayer, repentance and turning to God's mercy, and it opens a period of spiritual preparation for Ramadan. A prayer traditionally recited as Rajab begins sums it up: "O God, bless us in Rajab and Sha'ban and let us reach Ramadan."
