1. Size

Size affects price most. Larger prints need more fabric, longer stretcher bars, more ink and bigger packaging.

2. Fabric quality

The higher the weight (g/m²) of the canvas, the denser, fuller and more durable it is. On lightweight fabric the print can look washed out and the canvas can slacken over time. We use 220 g/m² canvas.

3. Stretcher bar depth and material

Thin, low-quality bars can warp, leaving the print crooked or flat on the wall. A 30 mm stretcher bar keeps the fabric taut and gives the print depth.

4. Print quality

Wide-gamut professional printing and colour calibration deliver vivid, consistent colours, and fade-resistant printing keeps the artwork looking new for years. Cheap prints can fade quickly.

5. Design

There is a big difference between an original, professionally prepared design and a low-resolution image downloaded from the internet. At large sizes especially, low-resolution images look blurry and pixelated.

6. Packaging and shipping

The corners and surface of a canvas can be damaged in transit. Protective packaging and a sturdy box add cost but make sure the print arrives in perfect condition. Remember to factor in shipping when comparing prices.

How to spot a cheap, poor-quality canvas

• No stretcher bar depth stated: If the description doesn't give the depth, or it is under 2 cm, the print may look flat on the wall.
• No fabric weight stated: If the weight isn't listed, a thin fabric may have been used.
• Edges and back: Fabric that isn't wrapped neatly, puckered corners or visible staples point to poor workmanship.
• Blurry image: A design that isn't sharp even in the product photo will look blurrier at large sizes.
• No hanger: Prints without a hanger need extra hardware and effort.
